She was born April 1, 1938, in Pontiac, Mich., to Arthur and Ida Stafford Hicks. On July 3, 1993, in Wabash, she married Charles W. Albert, who survives in Warsaw.
She was a resident of Warsaw for 20 years having moved from Wabash. She graduated from Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute, Jackson, Ky., and received a bachelor’s degree from Marion College, aka Indiana Wesleyan University. She received a master’s degree from Ball State University. She was a kindergarten teacher for the Wabash City Schools for 27 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw, a member of Philanthropic Educational Organization and a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Also surviving are three daughters: Susan (and spouse Paul) Segsworth, Coeur D'alene, Idaho; Diane (and spouse Andrew) Beverly, Warsaw; and Julie (and spouse Dean) Eakright, Wabash; a stepson, Neal (and spouse Nadine) Albert, Middlebury; two stepdaughters, Pamela (and spouse Mike) Hoover, North Manchester, and Julie (and spouse Steve) Hartig, Clarkston, Mich.; three sisters: Thelma Story, Magnolia, Texas; Dorothy (and spouse Leo) Holmes, Pontiac, Mich.; Ruth (and spouse Bob) Watson, Howell, Mich; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Hicks, and a sister, Becky Marotz.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Michael Smith, North Winona Church of the Brethren, officiating. Burial is in Manchester Church of the Brethren Memorial Garden.
Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
