ROCHESTER – Martha J. Wagoner, 96, of Talma, passed away at 10 a.m. Nov. 29, 2012, in her residence.
She was born Aug. 11, 1916, on a farm near Gilead, to Jesse and Judel  Alspach Norman. On Feb. 20, 1937,  in Crown Point, she married Claude Wagoner, who died June 7, 1987.
She was the fifth child of 14 children (eight boys and six girls). She lived near Macy until 1948 when she moved to Talma. She was a 1934 graduate of Gilead High School and a member of Talma United Methodist Church. She was widely known as a weaver. She also was an avid reader and gardener. She assisted her husband of 50 years  with the farming.
Surviving are a son, Norman (and spouse Lane) Wagoner, Sheridan; granddaughters: Rose Ann (and spouse Tracy) Shull and Joyce (and spouse Terry) Shepherd, all of Warsaw; five grandsons: Larry Fisher, Paige, Texas; Robert Fisher, Bourbon; Mark (and spouse Denise) Fisher, Rochester; Russell Wagoner (and fiance Kirstin), Noblesville; and David Wagoner, Arcadia; brothers, David (and spouse Grace) Norman, Macy; Roy Norman, Warsaw; and Oren (and spouse Ruth) Norman, Akron; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Wagoner, San Francisco, Calif.; Frances Norman, Wabash; and Rose Wagner, Warsaw; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; four step-granddaughters; 14 step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nettie Fisher; a son, Jesse Wagoner; five sisters, Nina Murphy, Wilma Gross, Ruth Byrers, Audria Fouts and Irene Powell; five brothers, Ernest, Glen, Alva, Kenneth and Charles Norman; and a son-in-law, Larry Fisher.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Randy Smoot officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Rochester.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
