The city's streetscape project will get back underway mid-August, according to reports heard Friday at the Warsaw Board of Works
Clounie Landscaping of Huntington will start work at the corner of Buffalo and Main streets for the Zimmer Hotel, and on Market Street between Indiana and Lake streets.
The historical district project had been delayed while a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant was processed. If the city spends $165,000, $55,000 will be received, Gisele Cox, community development coordinator, said.
The project includes demolition of existing sidewalks and curbs, installation of new concrete sidewalks, pavers, lighting, planters, and plant materials with electric service to the planters.
Board members heard the police department will receive three grants from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration: $20,000 for the county's fatal accident crash team; $10,000 for the DUI Taskforce; and $12,000 for pullovers and seat belt enforcement.
The board also:
• Approved a contract not to exceed $500 with Penguin Point Catering for the country concert dinner Friday.
• Approved a change order as requested by Jones and Henry Engineers reducing the cost of storm sewer rehabilitation project by $2,791. Final payments for the project also were approved.
• Agreed to a $7,900 payment to U.S. Infrastructure Inc., Fort Wayne, for engineering work on the Argonne Road and Parker Street corridor.
• Released an unsafe building lien of $1,000 for property at 2234 E. Center St.
• Approved a $2,600 engineering contract with Wolpert Engineering for services prior to construction of the Taxiway hangar and hangar road expansion at the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
• Approved a $17,000 contract with Robinson Construction for site preparation and apron construction at the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
