Two more businesses on Market Street, Warsaw, were found broken into Monday morning.
The Dollar General Store reported a break-in Sunday evening when three men were spotted coming out the back entrance of the building.
Employees of the Fitness Shop and DC Haircrafters told Warsaw Police that petty cash was stolen from their businesses.
Police reported that burglars apparently gained entry by prying open both businesses' front doors.
The Fitness Shop reported cash stolen from filing cabinet and cash register.
Two bank bags were found Monday morning at the intersection of Park Avenue and Chestnut Street in Winona Lake with a slip from the Fitness Shop. The bags were returned to the business, where employees confirmed them among those stolen.
DC Haircrafters reported a soda machine was broken into and change stolen. Petty cash from several other containers was also stolen.
Police found a hole through the drywall of a vacant part of the building into the Dollar General Store.
A lawn mower blade found at the scene was apparently used to punch three holes through the drywall and studs to gain entry to Dollar General, according to police.
Loretta Thomas, the manager of Dollar General, told police that she and her husband, Jimmie, were checking on the store shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. She said she saw the rear door of the building close, and Jimmie went around the back to check.
Jimmie Thomas told police he shouted at three men getting into a vehicle, asking them to stop. But they rammed their vehicle through the gates Thomas was attempting to lock, injuring him.
Thomas told police that the three were white males. One man was 6 feet tall, 200-225 pounds, with dark-colored hair, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. The vehicle was described as an older model dark mid-sized station wagon.
Warsaw Police ask that anyone with information on the vehicle or the suspects contact police immediately. [[In-content Ad]]
