She was born March 25, 1920, in South Bend, to Edgar W. and Rose Wasoski Clay. On April 7, 1946, in Rochester, she married James W. Nixon, who died Aug. 30, 1967.
She worked at the former Birkway Supermarket and retired from Hart-Schaffner and Marx. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a kindergarten Sunday School teacher, adult women's Sunday school teacher and was in the choir for more than 60 years. She belonged to numeroud bridge and Euchre clubs in Rochester.
Surviving are a daughter, Marianne Nixon, Rochester; a son, Michael J. (and spouse Dottie) Nixon, South Whitley; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a grandson and a brother.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Buck Padilla officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to service Wednesday at the funeral home.
