NORTH MANCHESTER - Marjorie P. Long, 89, of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died at 8:50 p.m. Oct. 20, 2007, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born Jan. 6, 1918, in North Manchester, to Charles E. and Georgia Hetler Swank. On June 21, 1952, she married George R. Long, who died Feb. 28, 1991.

She attended North Manchester High School and graduated from Elkhart International Business College in 1937. She was head bookkeeper and supervisor of payroll at Peabody Seating Co., North Manchester, for 17 years. She was chief timekeeper at Control's for four years and assistant general finance officer in North Manchester before moving to Phoenix, Ariz. She received a college of regency degree in August 1947. She joined the Women of the Moose Lodge in 1947, and was senior regent twice, recorder for three years and played piano for the Moose Auxiliary. She was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester; American Legion Auxiliary; and Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas L. McGraw, Greenwood, and Richard McGraw, Wellington, Colo.; three stepsons, Dr. Michael T. Long, El Cajon, Calif.; Robert L. Long, Springfield, Ill.; and Ted Sing, Michigan City; two stepdaughters, Margo Sing, San Jose, Calif., and Sally Taft, Florida; two grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with a Women of the Moose twilight service at 1:45 p.m. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
