BOURBON – Marjorie Ellen Heckaman, 81, of Bourbon, passed away July 31, 2013, in her residence, in the care of her family.
She was born July 18, 1932, in Bremen, to Victor and Frances O. Reichert Zillmer. On July 9, 1973,  she married LeRoy “Pealy” Heckaman, with whom she spent every moment she could.
She was a lifetime area resident and graduated from Bremen High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids. She and her husband spent many years delivering new motor homes all over the country and enjoyed all the wonderful sites along the way.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diane Jansma, Argos, and Marsha (and spouse Michael) Baker, Tippecanoe; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four stepsons: Terry (and spouse Barbara) Heckaman, Lansing, Mich.; Rex (and spouse Leanne) Heckaman, Nappanee; Kim (and spouse Jane) Heckaman, Plymouth; and Marty (and spouse Denise) Heckaman; Etna Green; 10 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; a sister, Martha (and spouse Wayne) Dinkeldein, Nappanee; a sister-in-law, Donna Zillmer, Fort Myers, Fla.; and two brothers, Wayne (and spouse Marion) Zillmer, Bremen, and Bill (and spouse Lois) Zillmer, Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by a son, Ken Steinman, who died Nov. 7, 2007, and a brother, Norman Zillmer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, officiated by the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry of the church and by Pastor Tom Padberg of Center for Hospice Care. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, is in charge of arrangements.
