AKRON – Marilyn R. Adams, 80, Akron, passed away at 5:25 a.m. July 29, 2015, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
She was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Milford, to Fred D. and Doris M. Jennings Haney. On Oct. 29, 1955, in her parent’s home in Akron, she married Raymond Adams, who survives.
She was a 1952 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and then she graduated from Ball State from their three-year program. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Grace College, and a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.
She was a member of the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church and also attended church for 70 years. She enjoyed painting, traveling and watching the Cubs with her husband. She was known for being a community-minded person. She retired from Woodlawn Hospital after 30 years of being an RN, and also had been the director of nurses.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Beth Ann Adams Cooper, Mentone; two sons, Phil (and wife Shirley) Adams, Warsaw; and Kent (and wife Lisa) Adams, Akron; a brother, Leslie “Buggs” (and spouse Laura Haney) Goshen; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Fred Jr., and Maurice “Mort” and David Haney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, 9798 W. CR 1000S, Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Burial is in Akron Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
