She was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Fort Wayne, to Dale and Esther Bates Hoover. She was married to Frederick L. Rentschler, who died in 2007.
She spent her childhood in Warsaw. She was a resident of Fort Wayne until 1999, when she and her husband retired and moved to The Villages, Fla. After Fred passed away, she lived in Marietta, Ga., before moving back to Indiana in 2013.
She was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, for over 40 years. She was an avid Hoosier basketball fan. In Florida, she was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, The Indiana Club and the Polo Ridge Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane (and spouse Bill) Helton, West Lafayette, and Amy (and spouse Joe) Stehlik, Marietta, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 8 at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Burial is in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Calling is two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
