M. June Longenbaugh, 85, died at 2:15 p.m. June 6, 2011, in Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Atwood, to Walter B. and Agnes Harman Smith. On March 28, 1947, in Atwood, she married Floyd Longenbaugh, who died Oct. 26, 2004.
Living most of her life in Kosciusko County, she taught history at Elkhart High School for 29 years, retiring in 1985. She was a Hoffman Lake resident for 30 years moving to Elkhart in 2002. She was a 1943 graduate of Atwood High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Marion College in 1961 and a master’s degree from Indiana University in 1965. She was a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and she and her husband enjoyed many winters in Punta Gorda, Fla.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey (and spouse Jennifer) Longenbaugh, Elkhart; a daughter, Debra Longenbaugh, Oxnard, Calif.; a grandson, Grant I. Longenbaugh, Cary, N.C.; a step-granddaughter, Lena Tisten, Wakarusa; a brother, Jerry Smith, Warsaw; and a sister, Virginia “Ginger” (and spouse Jack) Powell, Clunette. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anne Kathryn Longenbaugh, who died Jan. 13, 2005; a daughter-in-law, Christine Longenbaugh,  who died Aug. 5, 2006; a sister, Margaret Williamson, who died Jan. 14, 2002; and a brother, Ned Smith, who died April 1, 2006.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

ATWOOD – The congregation at Atwood Otterbein Church will celebrate the 98th anniversary of the building of their church at 306 E. Main St., Atwood, on Sunday at their 9:30 a.m. service. The congregation celebrates its Heritage Day each May.
