Marilyn C. Barker, 81, died at 11:15 p.m. Nov. 29, 2010, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where she resided.

She was born in Pierceton to Jacob Clair and Catherine Marie Beigh McCarter. On Jan. 16, 1949, in Pierceton, she married Harold T. Barker, who survives.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was office clerk for L.M. Berry for 18 years, retiring in 1987. She was a 1947 Pierceton High School graduate. She was a member of Pierceton United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and Pierceton United Methodist Women, where she served as president for 18 years. She was a life member of Order of the Easter Star, Chapter 57, Pierceton, and Pierceton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Also surviving are a son, Thomas H. (and spouse Nancy) Barker, Pierceton; a daughter, Rosanne Barker, Knoxville; three grandchildren: Robert T. (and spouse Ann) Barker, Winona Lake; Mary C. (and spouse John) Britvich, Yorkville, Ill.; and Leigh R. Barker, Knoxville, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Barker, both at home. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary McCarter, who died Aug. 29, 1950.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiating by Pastor Holly White of Pierceton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
