ARGOS - Marie Vera Benner, 83, formerly of Rochester, died at 6:52 a.m. April 8, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.

She was born Feb. 3, 1925, in the Czech Republic to Ondrey and Magdalena Stavarich Koch. On May 30, 1948, in Germany, she married Karl Pesak, who died May 23, 1977.

She formerly lived in Fulton, Marshall and Starke counties for more than 50 years, and in Chicago, Ill. She worked at Hart, Schaffner & Marx, Rochester, for 29 years, retiring in 1990, and was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Rochester.

Surviving are two daughters, Maria (and spouse Donald) Mangun, Milford, and Marcella (and spouse John) Boener, Plymouth; five sons: Robert (and spouse Kathy) Pesak, Hermitage, Tenn.; Karl Jr. (and spouse Jeanine), Mishawaka; Anthony (and spouse Debbie) Pesak, Charleston, S.C.; Milton (and spouse Kathryn) Pesak, Rochester; and Andrew Pasek, Chicago, Ill.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Magdalena Vasak, Burlington, Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

A private graveside service will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery with Pastor Blake Hall officiating.

Calling will be private.

Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, is in charge of arrangements.
