She was born Feb. 16, 1913, in Jersey City, N.J., to Joseph E. and Josephine Uldrich Cash. In 1937, she married George P. Burnett, who preceded her in death.
She attended Morristown High School in Morristown, N.J., where she met her future husband.
After high school, she attended the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J., and All Souls Hospital, Morristown, N.J., where she became a registered nurse. In subsequent years, she was a registered nurse in three states: New Jersey, Illinois and Indiana. Upon George’s retirement from the Prudential Insurance Company, they moved to Warsaw, where they lived for 32 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Warsaw, St. Paul’s in Marion and Our Lady of the Greenwood in Greenwood. She was actively pro-life. She as an avid square dancer and called rounds for 10 years. The Burnetts wintered in Florida where they worked in the Migrant Literacy Council and were awarded the Volunteer of the Year award. They tutored migrant workers in Florida and Vietnamese migrants in Warsaw.
Surviving are two daughters, Ellen (and spouse Herb) Spitzer, Marion, and Ann (and spouse Mike) Kreicker, Indianapolis; a son, George (and spouse Mary Ann Tawney) Burnett, Bluegrass, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Alyce Tylicki.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Father Phil DeVolder officiating. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. There will be sharing time at 6:30 p.m.
