Maple Leaf Team Wins 2007 Quiz Bowl

Second place went to SYM Financial, with Zimmer taking third place.[[In-content Ad]]A total of 30 teams competed in this year's Quiz Bowl. The moderator again this year was Harvey Miller, WRSW 107.3 FM and AM 1480.
The Quiz Bowl was divided into two parts. The first half included 15 questions on 2006 year in review, and 15 more questions on outer space. After intermission, there were 15 questions on academics and 15 on cartoons.
One question asked: Who said, "We choose to go to the moon not because it is easy, but because it is hard."? The answer was John F. Kennedy.
Another asked: Which of these planets has polar ice caps? Mars, Uranus, Venus or Mercury. The answer was Mars.
All proceeds of the Quiz Bowl benefit academic programs funded by the WEF.
The WEF is a nonprofit organization that gives grants to schools and educators. The grants are intended to help fill the gap between state funding and monies necessary to finance cutting-edge or academically challenging programs.
WEF also sponsors such programs as Partners in Education, academic excellence recognition and EdCom.
The winner of the Quiz Bowl takes home the traveling trophy. Plaques are awarded for first, second and third place.
