NORTH MANCHESTER - North Manchester Town Council accepted Town Marshal Dave Young's resignation during Wednesday night's meeting.

Young went on administrative sick leave two weeks ago.

The Indiana State Police is currently investigating an allegation made against Young. The ISP declined to comment on the matter, but said no charges against Young have been filed.[[In-content Ad]]After the meeting, Town Council President Chris Garber stated Young delivered his letter of resignation Wednesday.

Town Manager Dan Hannaford had previously stated Young was seeking treatment at Bowen Center.

Young, a 24-year veteran of the police department, won't receive a pension, but a severance package will be determined.

Garber said Young resigned in a "positive way" and that now the board just wants to move on to hiring the next town marshal.

An executive session had been called in the event Young didn't resign.

Jeff Perry will serve as the interim town marshal. A search team has been put together to hire a new town marshal.

In other news, Perry told the board they are looking to hire a new crossing guard for the upcoming school year.

The town was approved for a $4,000 Homeland Security grant.

Hannaford told the board he attended a Wabash County hearing on budgets, though no numbers were released during the meeting.

The board also approved a town and utility docket.
