Manchester School Board Approves 2009 Budget

NORTH MANCHESTER - Tuesday evening the Manchester Community Schools Board of Trustees gave the final approval for the 2009 budget totaling $15,718,980.

The budget includes a $10,685,800 general fund, a $1,894,535 debt service fund, and a $1,889,000 capital projects fund.

The budget's retirement/severance bond debt service fund totals $218,645, and the school transportation fund is $772,000. School bus replacement fund makes up $175,000 of the budget, while the special education and preschool fund is $84,000.

The board also adopted the 2009-11 capital project plan, the 2009-20 bus replacement plan, a budget reduction resolution and a tax neutrality resolution after approving the budget.

In other business, the board:

n Approved the hiring of Sheila Wilson, Manchester Junior-Senior High School; Katie Leese, assistant director for Manchester Junior High musical at MJSHS; and Kira Hawkins, assistant MSH musical director for MHS Drama at MJSHS.

n Accepted the resignation of Karen Pegg, paraprofessional at Manchester Elementary School.

n Approved maternity leave for Jennifer Jenkins at Manchester Intermediate School Oct. 3-Dec. 1.

n Approved Robin Messer as a long-term substitute teacher for Jennifer Jenkins at MIS.

n Approved overnight field trip requests: Jabin Burnworth will take the Biology 3 class to the Everglades National Park in Florida March 5-9; Jim Myer will take the physics class to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., March 11-16; Gwen Mize will take FFA senior officers to the national FFA convention in Indianapolis Oct. 21-25; and Bill McNeeley will promote an educational field trip to Washington, D.C., for seventh-and eighth-grade students April 6-9.[[In-content Ad]]
