Manchester Girls Soccer Rolls Over Maconaquah

BUNKER HILL – Elizabeth Anguilm had a hat trick, scoring three goals in the first six minutes of the match, helping Manchester to an easy 11-0 win over host Maconaquah Wednesday night.
Two of Anguilm’s goals came off assists from Bailey Sewell, who also scored the fifth and final goal of the first half. Katelyn Andritsch scored the Lady Squires’ fourth goal.
Carsyn Howard scored twice while Meghan Davis, Brooklyn Howard, Brittany Montel and Katelyn Andritsch each had a goal in the second half.
“(We) did a great job moving the ball around the field and possessing for majority of the game,” said Manchester head coach Jen birch via e-mail. “The defense shut down the other team and allowed Maconaquah to only get off one shot.”
The Lady Squires are now 7-3-2 on the season, and will host Peru in a Three Rivers Conference contest on Tuesday.

Wednesday in Syracuse
Plymouth scored twice in the first three minutes of the match and went on to a 4-0 win over Wawasee at Warrior Field.
“We were not ready to play at the start,” said Wawasee head coach Doug Heinisch via fax. “We played hard but did not have the ball control needed.”
The Lady Warrior junior varsity team lost 4-1, with Haley Smarr scoring on a pass from Sarah Pritchard for Wawasee.
Wawasee, now 1-6-2 overall and 0-4 in the Northern Lakes Conference, will host undefeated Warsaw Saturday morning.

Wednesday in South Whitley
Whitko senior Madysen Overmeyer scored the tying goal on an assist from Leighandra Goodman to forge a 1-1 tie with Eastbrook on the Lady Wildcats’ Senior Night.
Senior goalkeeper Ilyssa Bennett was credited with 10 saves in the match.
The Lady Wildcats will travel to Lakeville to take on the LaVille Lady Lancers on Saturday.

Boys Tennis
Wednesday in Knox
Triton’s tennis team had a solid start in the first-ever Hoosier North Athletic Conference tournament, with two singles players and both doubles teams in position to play for titles.
Gavin Eads won at No. 1 singles, and his brother Mace needed 13 games to win his match. Aaron Stichter was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over LaVille’s Leo Martinelli.
The Trojans’ No. 2 doubles team of Brenden Damron and Keygen Moiser needed three sets to advance over North Judson’s Nick Sierzputowski and Brendan Medbourn.
Triton is second in the team standings, three points behind host Knox, going into the next round of play on Friday.

Wednesday in Rochester
Whitko wasn’t able to field full teams in either the boys or girls races against Rochester, but the Wildcats who ran did so with solid results.
In the girls race, senior Brigit Nemitz finished second in 21:54, followed by junior Suzi Sickafoose in 22:17. Hanna Yohe was sixth, and Lizz Foutz was 14th.
In the boys race, junior Josh Wright was fourth in 18:36. Logan Busz was sixth in 19:51, Zack Freel eighth and Kort Gebert 12th.
Whitko will next compete at the New Haven Invitational on the campus of IPFW, where the semistate races will be held in October.

Wednesday in South Whitley
Visiting Eastbrook took a 3-0 win over Whitko in non-conference soccer action. Wildcat goalie Devin Goggin was credited with a dozen saves.
