For the second time in less than a month, a Warsaw man threatened to take his own life on county property.[[In-content Ad]]Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, Shawn M. Misener, 35, of 116 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, stood on the steps to the Kosciusko County Jail, held a knife to his throat and threatened to kill himself.

According to a report from the Warsaw Police Department, Misener was seen pacing in front of the American Legion on Buffalo Street shortly before he made his way to the Kosciusko County Jail.

Officers from the jail attempted to leave the building, but Misener forced them back inside, where they locked the building's doors.

Officers from the jail and Warsaw Police Department tried to talk with Misener, but he continued to hold the knife to his throat.

When more officers arrive at the scene, they surrounded Misener and subdued him with a Tazer, which caused him to drop the knife and fall to the ground.

Once officers handcuffed Misener, paramedics treated him and took him to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Once he was medically cleared, Misener was taken to the Bowen Center, and once released from there, he was taken to the jail, where he was booked for intimidation with a weapon, criminal recklessness and public intoxication.

Misener reportedly told police that the voices in his head were telling him to kill his girlfriend.

On July 8, Misener was involved in a similar incident on the courthouse square. At that time, Misener also held a knife and threatened to kill himself. He was taken to South Bend for treatment after officers got him under control during that incident.
