YELLOW CREEK LAKE - A Claypool man drowned Friday night while swimming in Yellow Creek Lake.
Walter S. Hough, 29, Yellow View Lane, died about 7:30 p.m. after rescuers were unable to revive him.
According to Floyd Knafel of the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Hough was swimming away from shore when he ventured into water over his head and turned around.
He tried to swim back to shallower water, but then went down.
Knafel said other people were in the lake, but no one was in the immediate area where Hough was swimming. It took two to five minutes before anyone was able to get to where Hough went down, he said.
A witness said Hough surfaced three times and called for help. He may have been in the water 20 minutes before he was found. [[In-content Ad]]
