Darren Heinzman was caught driving a stolen 2001 Dodge pickup Wednesday and was subsequently arrested by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
Heinzman, 33, of 4409 E. CR 100S, Pierceton, was arrested for burglary, auto theft and theft early Wednesday morning and was booked into Kosciusko County Jail with a $5,250 bond.
Heinzman allegedly stole the Dodge from a woman in Kosciusko County on Saturday, according to the affidavit of probable cause provided by Kosciusko County officials. Then on Tuesday, KCSD responded to a reported burglary. The homeowner told police she returned home to find her backdoor and basement window open. According to the report, she was missing multiple power tools totaling less than $750 in value.
The vehicle owner’s son called Warsaw Police Tuesday night reporting that he had seen the stolen pickup driving in Winona Lake. Police pulled over the truck and found Heinzman behind the wheel with most of the stolen tools in the truck.
Heinzman admitted to police that he entered the home and stole the tools. He also admitted to pawning a couple of the tools previously.[[In-content Ad]]
