Mad

Citizens of Kosciusko County and the editor of the Times-Union, I'm calling you to action. For too long we, as citizens, have sat idly by while our country has been sold away to corporations and foreign nations. For too long we have sat idly by and allowed the corruption of those in power to go unchecked. Now is the time that we as Americans stand up and shout the famous phrase "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
We have an important decision to make this November, and I want you to get on board with me now, right now and change Washington. We have just over two months to turn this nation around, pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and tell Washington that economic hardship and political strife is not America on the right track.
The powers that be will tell you that they see no problems in America today. They think that $4 for gas is OK, that factory closings and high unemployment rates are of no concern, and a mortgage crisis is nothing to fear. They think that we can afford another four to eight more years of this avalanche of misfortune. Now that's elitist and out of touch.
Those who want to keep you poor, afraid and controlled will use words like Muslim, Socialism, high taxes and use loose and laughable comparisons to Hitler to try to make you afraid, to feed upon your gut reactions and primal uncertainties. They mock the idea of change because they don't want you to. They don't want you to see that change is something we can believe in and something we, as individuals, can take part in. The powers that be will tell you that the only way to be safe is to be at war; this glaring contradiction is seared into our heads until it becomes part of our daily mantra.
But, in reality, our troops are donating to the Obama campaign 6:1 over McCain. The war is more unpopular than ever, and our actions have left us little political muscle with the rest of the world, exemplified with Russia. I ask you directly, do you think this is America on the right track?
Come November, we will be a part of the most crucial election in our lifetime. It may sound dramatic to say, but the fate of not only our nation, but the world, will be greatly affected by your decision. So when you step into the booth, and you cast your ballot, will you be voting to keep America on the wrong track? Or will you take responsibility for the future and become part of changing the nation?
Join me in these next few months to get Senator Barack Obama elected the president of the United States. The future is up to us now, not them. We can make this country better, and it starts with one vote.
I, and others, will be going into more detail about the senators positions in future letters.
Join us at http://my.barackobama.com/page/group/WarsawIndianaforBarackObama and let's get to work.
