BOURBON - Mabel Yazel Baney, 97, formerly of Bourbon, died at 5:30 a.m. Oct. 5, 2008, in Peace River Rehabilitation Center, Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born July 31, 1911, in Bourbon Township, to Hallie "Nick" and Mary E. Carl Eby. On Aug. 30, 1931, she married C. Blaine "Bing" Yazel, who died June 7, 1974. On Nov. 10, 1979, she married Verl Baney, who died Jan. 12, 2003.

She was a lifetime Bourbon and Bremen area resident until moving to Florida in the later years. She was a corporate secretary and liaison to the president of TV Time Foods, Bremen, retiring in 1971. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star, Bourbon; Business and Professional Women's Club; and River Forest Social Club and a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church and Cleveland United Methodist Church. She assisted during visitations and funeral at Deaton Funeral Home while in Bourbon.

Surviving are a son, Larry (and spouse Lori) Yazel, Indianapolis; a stepson, Richard (and spouse Betty) Baney, Bourbon; a grandson; two step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and a stepdaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, with the Rev. Mark Day officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
