AKRON - M. Opal Clark, 97, formerly of Akron, died at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2, 2010, in Life Care Center of Rochester, where she resided.

She was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Miami County, to Charles E. and May Blanche Murphy Walker. On Dec. 3, 1932, in Akron, she married George Clark, who died June 1, 1996.

She was a homemaker as well as working for 21 years at the former Chamberlain Products, Akron.

Surviving are three grandchildren: Marcia (and spouse Steve) Carnes, Kokomo; Carol Bryan, Berne; Jeffrey R. (and spouse Melinda) Clark, Auburn; a step-grandson, Duane Ford; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jane Ford, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Ruth Bishop, North Manchester, and Helen Wright, Wabash; and a brother, Robert (and spouse Ruby) Walker, Wabash. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Clark; three sisters, Maude McColley, Edith Sicks and Chloe Floyd; and a brother, Galen Walker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
