She was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Wabash County, to Fred V. and Liela Vivian Clark Bechtold. On Dec. 24, 1941, in North Manchester, she married Robert F. Gibson, who died Sept. 5, 1992.
She was a 1939 Central High School graduate and worked at Singer Controls, North Manchester, for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a longtime treasurer and member of the Wabash County Cancer Society; a member and former treasurer of Manchester College Club; a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, the Women's Fellowship of the church, Lucky Trump Bridge Club and College Women's Bridge Club; and a life member of North Manchester American Legion Auxiliary Post 286. She loved to travel with her husband in their RV, and also enjoyed sewing, reading and community service.
Surviving are a daughter, Janis (and spouse Tom) Rager, North Manchester; a son, Paul D. Gibson, Claypool; two grandchildren, Jason (and spouse Angela) Rager, Bloomington, and Alissa (and spouse Mark) Zeigler, Polo, Ill.; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary Rager, Bloomington, and Nicole, Rebekah and Gage Zeigler, all of Polo. She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and a step-grandchild, Angela Bond.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peabody Chapel, 400 W. 7th St., North Manchester, with the Rev. Kurt Borgmann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester.
