ROCHESTER - Lynden Eugene Swanson Jr., 54, of 1901 Sunset Lane, Rochester, died March 7, 2011, in his residence.

He was born April 29, 1956, in Detroit, Mich., to Lynden Eugene Sr. and Barbara Elaine Grance Swanson.

He was a lifetime resident of Marshall and Fulton counties. Being intrigued with eagles, their flight and habits, he enjoyed the vast collection that he amassed over the years. He enjoyed fishing for blue gill and bass at lakes around the area. With diversified interests in music, his favorites were hip-hop, country western and rock.

An avid Facebook fan, he kept in tune with the latest and especially enjoyed the challenges of the hidden object games. His lifelong dream of owning a Mustang became reality in 2005 when he purchased a beautiful black "pony," with white stripes. Other times he could be seen cruising the streets in his 2002 blue Doge Ram. He loved his children and adored his 13 grandchildren. Life for him was all about family.

Surviving are his fiancee, Mary Chapman; the mother of his children and lifelong friend, Terry (and spouse Alan) Yeazel, Claypool; a daughter, Wendy (and spouse David) Grover, Terre Haute; three sons: Lynden Swanson III (and fiancee Amber Thomas), Claypool; Danny Swanson, Rochester; and Kenneth (and spouse Brandy) Swanson, Mentone; his mother, Barbara Swanson; two sisters, Barbara (and spouse Edwin) Reeves, North Webster, and Judy (and spouse Loren) Lowe, Talma; 13 grandchildren; special family friend, Jamie Stratton, Nebraska; and nieces and nephews; and his red short-haired Dashound, Minnie. He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Billy Joe Swanson, who died in 1980; a sister, Carol Tendziegloski; and two nieces, Wendy and Cendy Reeves.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Pastor Daniel Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.
