Loss Of Cable

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the Comcast Cable company due to dropping the Fort Wayne television station.

My husband, who teaches fifth grade at Jefferson Elementary, has kept track of weather highs and lows for years. He uses this information with his students in teaching math and science. He has observed for years that our weather much more closely follows the Fort Wayne weather patterns than it does the South Bend lake effect weather. This to me is an important health and safety issue for our whole community. We need to have the information that is the most accurate for our weather information.

We, as parents, need this for our plans for school delays and cancellations. I have observed that I much prefer watching the Fort Wayne station for this type of information. They scroll through the school lists much more quickly than the South Bend stations. When you as a parent are waiting for this information to help you make alternate plans for your children, it is very important to get the information you need as quickly and conveniently as possible.

We have many people in our community with health issues that need to know accurate information about what the weather is going to be before venturing out. We have many people whose jobs depend on what the weather will be to plan what they will be doing that day.

Shopping in Fort Wayne is much more easy and faster to get to. You have four-lane highways taking you almost directly to the two major shopping destinations, Glenbrook Mall and Jefferson Pointe, in Fort Wayne. The South Bend shopping is fine, but you have to drive through town, use two-lane highways, or take back roads to get to them.

We have plenty of people who shop, work and have family ties in the Fort Wayne area in our community. Our community deserves to have both news and weather from the South Bend market and the Fort Wayne market. We shouldn't have some rating scale telling us what we should or should not be watching. I am very upset that we are willing to sit back and let some company tell us what we can and cannot watch.

I would be glad if someone could tell us how we can band together to fight this. If that is not possible, we will be looking for alternative sources for our viewing needs. Our community deserves more from a company that is making a handsome profit from our business.
