Lorraine Eloise Ver Hage, 88, Winona Lake, was called home by the Lord at 4:56 p.m. March 26, 2015, at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake.
She was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Muskegon, Mich., to Grover Cleveland and Lilie Mae Rasmussen Bush. On April 19, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Ned C. Ver Hage, who survives in Winona Lake.
In addition to working as a Methodist church secretary for 10 years in Rockford, Ill., she was a dedicated volunteer in her lifetime, serving as a den mother, delivering Meals-On-Wheels for 20 years and serving on the Elk Rapids Chamber of Commerce in Michigan for 10 years and the Elk Rapids Food Pantry for 15 years.
She was an excellent bridge player, a member of several clubs, an avid golfer and bowler. She also was active in the Elk Rapids Garden Club and the United Methodist Women in Williamsburg, Mich. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers (Al Kaline was her favorite), Detroit Lions and both the Michigan State and Purdue University teams.
She also will be missed greatly by her loving husband and family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved each one immensely and put each ahead of herself.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons:  James E. (and spouse Susan) Ver Hage, Auburn; Larry D. (and spouse Lana) Ver Hage, Warsaw; Brian D. (and spouse Kathy) Ver Hage, Fort Mill, S.C.; seven grandchildren: Micah (and spouse Stephanie) Ver Hage, Winona Lake; Andrew Ver Hage, Columbus, Ohio; Sarah (and spouse Reginald) Overstreet, Lakewood, Wash.; Joshua (and spouse Melissa) Ver Hage, Grand Haven, Mich.; Jana (and spouse Brian) Carney, Royal Oak, Mich.; Chelsea and Corey Ver Hage, Fort Mill; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Merlin E. Bush, Barboursville, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janet Eileen Ver Hage; a son, Michael Ver Hage; a great-grandson, Ezra Ver Hage; and her daughter-in-law, Dianne Ver Hage.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, with Chaplains Bryan Benjamin and Bob Jarboe officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
