Longtime Fireman To Remain On City Insurance After Retirement; Gang Task Force Account OK'd
July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
Gene Fancil will continue on the city's health insurance plan as an individual when the 33-year fire department veteran retires.
Warsaw Board of Works members decided Fancil's status and also set up a donation acceptance procedure for the Kosciusko County Gang Task Force during Friday morning's meeting.
Fancil, who is a driver for the fire department, began his tenure with the city in 1966 as a volunteer for 11 years. Fire chief Matt Warren made the insurance request on Fancil's behalf.
Costs to carry Fancil will be about $200 per month.
"I have no problems with this after all the years he has served," said BOW member Jerry Patterson.
The board also heard from Warsaw Police Department Cpl. Mike Cox on behalf of the gang task force. Cox asked the city to set up an account so donations could be accepted. The request was approved.
City attorney Mike Valentine said all the clerk's office will have to do is stamp checks "City of Warsaw" and deposit them in the appropriate account.
The Kosciusko County Gang Task Force is manned and overseen by city employees.
In other business, the board signed the blueprints of the renovated city police garage prior to sending them to the State Building Commissioner.
Warsaw Board of Works members are Mayor Ernie Wiggins, Charlie Smith and Jerry Patterson. The board meets at 10:30 a.m. the first and third Fridays of each month in council chambers at city hall. [[In-content Ad]]
