SYRACUSE - Lollie A. Savala, 77, of Milford, died at 12:25 p.m. April 11, 2007, at his residence.

He was born June 27, 1929, in Whitney, Idaho, to Jose A. and Carmen Contreras Savala. On Dec. 29, 1988, in Reno, Nev., he married Nancy M. Stevens Whetten, who survives.

He graduated from Woodland High School, Woodland, Calif., and attended El Camino College in Los Angeles, Calif. He lived most of his life in California before moving to Milford in 1984 from Woodland. He worked for Holiday Rambler Co., California, and continued working at the Wakarusa plant until his retirement. He also worked for Campbell's Grocery, Milford, and Wal-mart, Goshen. He was raised in the Catholic church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Also surviving are a son, Charles Savala, Sacramento, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Richie (Pam) Walker, Milford; three stepsons: Steve Whetten Sr., Syracuse; Russell Whetten, Arizona; Albert Whetten, Woodland; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Mrs. Fidel (Lupe) Mendoza, Yolo, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by the U.S. Navy will be in Milford Cemetery.

Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
