Fifty-six local residents will travel to Washington, D.C., this weekend to attend a Glenn Beck Restoring Honor rally.

They will join with thousands of others across the country on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

The group will leave on the bus trip Friday morning, attend the three-hour rally Saturday and return Sunday night.

The guest speaker list for the rally includes Glenn Beck, radio and television host; Sarah Palin, former Alaskan governor and vice presidential candidate; Dr. Aveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr.; and Marcus Luttrell, former petty officer first class and U.S. Navy SEAL.

Luttrell received the Navy Cross for his actions in 2005 facing Taliban fighters during Operation Red Wings.

Country musician Jo Dee Messina will perform.

There were 16 Kosciusko Silent No More members who previously traveled to D.C. last March to protest the health care bill.

The group who will attend the rally this weekend also will have the opportunity to site see.

Monica Boyer, Kosciusko Silent No More founder, said the group is traveling to prepare for the upcoming election.

The group is a grassroots organization whose purpose is to stand for freedom and the Constitution.

Boyer's husband, Brian, and her mother, Anne Bonewitz, Warsaw, also will attend the rally.

"The purpose of the trip is to unite one more time before the Nov. 2 election," Boyer said. "Everything is counting on this election and we want Washington to know conservatives are alive and well."

Boyer said she hopes the rally will be a launching point for an Awakening America three-day tent revival the Silent No More group is planning at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds Sept. 11-13. There will be speakers each night at 6:30 p.m.

Teresa Martin-Gay, Silver Lake, said she is looking forward to hearing the speakers in D.C.

It will be her fourth time for traveling to Washington. She previously went in September 2009, and last March and May to oppose the health care bill. She also went again in November 2009 to talk with state representatives in Washington about the health care bill.

"I am looking forward to gathering with others who want to learn about the value and history of our country from the speakers," Martin-Gay said.

Dean Harman, Clunette, said it will be his second time for traveling to D.C.

He previously visited D.C. in September 2009 to attend a rally against overspending in Washington and protest the health care bill.

"I am going again this time to make a statement that I am concerned with the government's overspending, and I hope they will see all of us who are frustrated," Harman said.

Amy Prosser, Warsaw, will be going to D.C. for the third time.

"It is imperative that we restore honor, and as we go on our daily lives we don't stop and think about those who have served our country and this will be a time to do that," Prosser said.
