Local Realtor Gives Virtual Tours
July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
RE/MAX Rainbow, 929 E. Center St., Warsaw, has gone online with virtual tours of listed properties.
Dan Harstine, director of operations for RE/MAX offices in Warsaw, Syracuse, North Webster and Goshen, said the cost is "virtually" nothing.
"All of the virtual tours are through RE/MAX," Harstine said.
He said most of RE/MAX's property listings for sale can have virtual tours.
"We go in and, using a special video camera, we can actually take a 360-degree view of the inside of the house," Harstine said. "It actually takes a 360-degree picture."
He also said they can take pictures of the streets so customers can see the neighborhood of the property they're looking at.
"It's free to anyone who lists with us," Harstine said.
He said a virtual tour "typically costs about $130 to $140."
But RE/MAX of Indiana has purchased 5,300 tours.
"They're basically on a first- come first-served basis," Harstine said.
The tours began in January and will continue until all the tour spots are used up. Harstine said the majority of their listings have virtual tours and the "the photos are fairly high quality." But, he said, if there is a Monet painting hanging on the wall it is quite possible the viewer won't be able to see that closely.
Anyone who wants to list with RE/MAX has the option of using virtual tours. As to the cost of this new technology, Harstine said it "doesn't (cost) a dime."
