Local Liquor Permit Held In Escrow Pending Site Approval
July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
With no location planned yet, the new beer, wine and liquor retailer permit the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission approved for Walter J. Kasprzycki Jr. will be held in escrow, it was decided at Thursday's meeting of the ABC.
Kasprzycki bought the permit at an auction held by the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission.
According to excise officer Tim Cleveland, since Kasprzycki's location is pending, the state will hold the permit in escrow until Kasprzycki finds a suitable site. Once he finds a location, an excise officer will inspect the site and must approve of the location. If the officer does not approve, Kasprzycki will not get the permit.
Kasprzycki does not have to come back to the county ABC for location approval as long as the officer approves of the site.
When asked if he had a geographical location in mind, Kasprzycki said he is still looking around.
Cleveland said the permit could be kept in escrow for a year. If Kasprzycki needs the permit to be kept in escrow longer, he has to reapply. It can be kept in escrow for a maximum of two years. Since the permit is a type 210 - beer, wine and liquor - the establishment must be inside the corporate limits of Warsaw.
Kasprzycki owns another alcohol business in Lake County. His Lake County business has no violations against it.
The permit was approved unanimously.
In other business, the ABC approved:
• Beer, wine and liquor retailer permit renewal, Fraternal Order of Eagles 3760, North Kern Road, Syracuse.
• Beer, wine, liquor and Sunday sales retailer permit renewals, Ye Olde Pub, 207 W. South St., North Webster.
• Beer and wine retailer permit renewal, Turf Bar, South Main Street, Milford.
• Beer, wine, liquor and Sunday sales retailer permits, transfer of ownership, J.D.'s Roadhouse, West Center Street, Warsaw.
• Beer, wine, liquor and Sunday sales retailer permit renewal, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1339, West Center Street, Warsaw.
Members of the ABC are Gordon Vanator, Kenneth Johnson, Darwin Call and an excise officer. They meet at 1 p.m. in the county courthouse, Warsaw, on the first Thursday of every month. [[In-content Ad]]
