Simon, Paula and Randy may not be there, but local "idols" will entertain an audience Friday evening at the Wagon Wheel Theatre.

The inaugual Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund Idol Night "Sing For Support" will begin at 7 p.m. as local singers compete for the audience's favor Friday.

Eight singers will take the Wagon Wheel stage to compete for the most votes and bragging rights as Kosciusko's "idol."

Audience members will vote for their favorite idol contestants with their wallets. Votes are $1 each, and all funds raised will go to the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.

Tickets for the event are $10 for adult and $5 for those 18 and under. They are available at the Wagon Wheel Theatre box office, North Pointe Cinema in Warsaw and Absolutely Flowers, Syracuse. Tickets also will be available at the door the night of the event, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Contestants vying for the title and the $1,000 top prize include Lisa Scott, Chris Dillon, Ed Rock, Allison Davis, Rosalee Kauffman, Arielle Howard, Amy Marshall and Jen Gibson. Contestants also have tickets available.

Ric Workman will emcee the event and Gordy Clemens, Kosciusko County's own Elvis impersonator, will make a special appearance.

As a tribute to his brother who died of cancer, Scott Campbell will sing a song during the show's 20-minute intermission.

Three "future idols" also will entertain during the inttermission period.

All proceeds from that evening will go to the KCCCF, which provides assistance to financially eligible residents of Kosciusko County who are suffering from cancer. The purpose of the fund is to help relieve some financial strain that often accompanies that dreaded diagnosis. The assistance provided includes, but is not limited to, items such as rent or mortgage payments, utilities, insurance, food, car payments, and prescription medications.

Since 2000, the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund has provided more than $773,000 in financial assistance to Kosciusko County residents and their families.[[In-content Ad]]
