Local Grad Gets Lilly Endowment Scholarship

Joshiekka Outlaw, a Warsaw Community High School senior, recently became the second Kosciusko County student to receive a Lilly Endowment Scholarship.
Outlaw joins Carly Smoker, who received a Lilly scholarship in March.
Outlaw will attend Notre Dame University, where she plans to study business management and pre-law. The Lilly Endowment Scholarship will provide full tuition for four years. It also will cover required fees and a special allocation of up to $700 per year for required books and equipment. The program is administered locally by the Kosciusko County Foundation.
During her high school career, Outlaw won the Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest and the Optimist essay contest, was involved in Girl's State, was a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador, received a WCHS Citizenship Award and was on the high honor roll, received the Tri Kappa Honors Award, was a member of the First District Entrepreneur Business Professionals of America, won the McDonald's Black History Maker of Tomorrow Award, and received various Small Business Management Business Professionals of America awards.
She is the daughter of Pat Outlaw, Warsaw.
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is awarded to students based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, recommendations, SAT scores, class rank and a written essay. The names of the students and their schools are not known to the selection committee. [[In-content Ad]]
