Local Band In 'Battle'

Michele Payton & Lazarus Rising are one of the top 10 bands in Star 88.3's "Battle of the Bands" contest.

As part of the contest, they have the opportunity to perform live at Indiana Beach June 26. All band members are local.

Michele Payton is the lead singer who plays guitar, keyboard, flute and writes/co-writes the original songs. She lives in Warsaw. She is also the music minister at South Whitley United Methodist Church.

Chris Elvidge is the bass player who sings back up, plays guitar and drums. He lives in Columbia City.

Vic Bishop is the drummer and back-up singer. He lives in Larwill.

Rod Roman is a woodwind instrumentalist and back-up singer. He lives in South Whitley.

Jason Cannon plays electric and acoustic guitarist, drums and is a back-up singer. He lives in Fort Wayne.

DeeAnna Muraski is a back-up vocalist and songwriter, who lives in Warsaw.[[In-content Ad]]Payton said, "I am blessed to have a church that showers me with love while still allowing me to go out into the world ministering to others through music. We are excited about this journey as a band and cannot wait to see God's plan for us."
