Lloyd E. Mikel NAPPANEE – Lloyd E. Mikel, 83, Hubbard Hill Retirement Center, formerly of Nappanee, died at 7:10 a.m. May 11, 2012. He was born July 8, 1928, in Nappanee, to Walter and Bertha Hall Mikel. On July 23, 1949, he married Eleanor J. Harmon, who preceded him in death June 18, 1977. In 1978, he married Mary Deferbache, who survives. He retired from NIPSCO and was the founder and former owner of Mikel’s Trailer Park. He was a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church, and a former member of Mt. Tabor Church of God in Nappanee. He was also a member of the Moose and Elks Lodge in Elkhart. Also surviving are two sons, Dennis (and spouse Marjorie) Mikel, Goshen; Jack and Eldon (and spouse Kathy) Mikel, both of Nappanee; and one daughter, Jane (and spouse Lee) Farney, Wakarusa; three stepsons, Fred and Bob (and spouse Debbie) Deferbache, both of Elkhart; Don Deferbache, Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, a sister and two brothers. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery. Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. ***** Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association or Southern Care Hospice.
