NORTH MANCHESTER - Lloyd E. Stanley, 90, of North Manchester, died at 1:25 p.m. Aug. 21, 2008, at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born July 18, 1918, in Huntington County, to Noah and Bertha Chalmers Stanley. On Dec. 31, 1941, he married Agnes P. Gaff, who survives.

He was a retired farmer and was employed by the Indiana State Highway Department. He also was a dispatcher for the North Manchester Police Department and the worked for the North Manchester Water Utilities Department. Then we was a dispatcher and fire truck driver for the Chester Township Fire Department until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the North Manchester Lions Club. He graduated from Bippus High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a member of United Methodist Church, North Manchester.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne Stanley, North Manchester, and Glen Stanley, Indianapolis; a daughter, Kay Leslie, Warsaw, six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at DeLaughter McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Larry Ray officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
