Linda Lou Byers, 63, of Warsaw, died at 3:10 p.m. Sept. 8, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Jasper, Ala., to Floyd Edward and Beulah Mae Arsonsmith Shives. On March 4, 2006, in Wabash, she married Darl Byers, who survives.

She lived in North Manchester for 40 years until moving to Warsaw a year ago. She worked at Timbercrest Nursing Home, North Manchester, and Warsaw Community High School, retiring in 2010. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Fellowship Church, North Manchester.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dayne (and spouse Steve) Eads, North Manchester, and Jacqueline Fortner, Nappanee; a son, John Fortner, Nappanee; two brothers, James Odell, Alabama, and David Shives, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren: Amber Johnson, Shelby Eads and Bradon Fortner, all of North Manchester; Nicholas and Keaton Fortner and Jocelyn Moore, all of Nappanee; Kendric Fortner, Warsaw; and Jaylynn Lent, Goshen; and a great-grandchild, Kaelynn Johnson, North Manchester. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Don Planck officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
