She was born Nov. 18, 1949, in Warsaw, to Emmet and Willodean Hively Epler. On Aug. 2, 1969, she married Charles Schumacher and then was re-married Oct. 16, 1986, to Leon D. Whetstone, who survives.
She was a beautician as well as having worked at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, in the MedSurg department, ICU medical records and as a medical coder. She also worked at Med-Stat, Warsaw. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and was a member of Silver Creek Church of God, Silver Lake.
Also surviving are a son, Ryan (and spouse Donnette) Schumacher, Claypool; her mother, Willodean Epler, Claypool; two sisters, Diana Hughes, Claypool, and Jackie (and spouse Bill) Sainer, Silver Lake; two stepdaughters, Courtney Burchett, Valparaiso, and Kara Creamer, Atwood; a stepson, Gabriel Whetstone, Warsaw; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Larry Howard officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
