This is the fifth year for the garage sales in Kosciusko County, according to Ken Locke, Kosciusko County Lincoln Highway Committee chairman.
"This event has grown to national awareness in just five years," said Mike Hocker, executive director of the Ohio designated byway group, whose mission is economic development.
The first year saw more than 250 yard sales across Ohio's portion of the historic Lincoln Highway, America's first coast-to-coast paved road.
The sale population increased substantially each year, and parts of Indiana and Illinois soon joined in, with West Virginia now setting out goods, as well as Iowa.
Warsaw Community Public Library will kick off a First Friday event and the Aug. 7 Lincoln Highway garage sales with a booksale Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A Shriners parade will be Aug. 6 at 8:30 p.m. on Center Street.
On Aug. 5 to 7 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Old 30 West Antique and Flea Market, 3782 Old 30 West, will have Lincoln Highway sales. To be a vendor at the Antique and Flea Market's garage sale, call Roger Gaff at 574-551-1497.[[In-content Ad]]Other Lincoln Highway Garage Sales are being planned.
There will be sales on the corner of West Old 30 and CR 350W (across from the Chinworth Bridge) Aug. 5, 6 and 7 at 8 a.m. until items are sold, and at Warsaw Wesleyan Church, 2402 W. Old 30, on Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. until items sell out.
