COLUMBIA CITY - Lillian A. Workman, 89, formerly of Columbia City, died at 6:49 p.m. Dec. 30, 2007, in Grace Village Retirement Center, Winona Lake, where she resided.

She was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Elkhart, to Floyd C. and Lillian Hall Rhodes. On April 10, 1938, in South Bend, she married Pastor Wilbur E. Workman, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Riley High School, South Bend, in 1936, and attended South Bend College of Commerce. She was a secretary at various locations and assisted her husband in the ministry where they served for 45 years in several northeastern Indiana churches including Bourbon, Craigville, Silver Lake, Albion, Elkhart, Ligonier, Muncie and Etna Green. She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Ted (and spouse Janet) Workman, New Haven; Daniel (and spouse Mignon) Workman, Franklin; and Thomas Workman, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Janice (and spouse Ronald) Conrad, Troy, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Columbia City United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Arnold and the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City.
