Liberties

Dear Founding Fathers,
First I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for risking your "Lives, Fortunes and Sacred Honor" to give these 50 States, (yes, we now have 50 States), the Freedoms and Liberties that you established in the beginning years of our Republic.
In many ways you would be, and rightly should be, proud of what we have accomplished and become in the 234 years since you declared our Independence from King George III and the British Crown.
Since our founding, among many things, we have become the world leaders in many areas such as Science, Medicine and numerous other areas that have made life better for mankind and the world over. Americans have also come to the aid of many countries around the world, spending our wealth and spilling our blood, to defend and secure the Freedoms and Liberties that we hold dear for millions of people that were living under or threatened by tyranny and oppression. To paraphrase former Secretary of State Colin Powell, we have only taken enough land in war to bury our dead.
Once again we find our blessed Liberties and Freedoms under attack from without by people who would have our way of life become like theirs and if we do not submit they feel we should be exterminated. Also, our freedom is under attack from within by our own Government.
In the last 100 years or so we have made many changes in how much the Government is involved in our daily lives. As a result, generations have progressively become more dependent on the Federal, State and Local Government and the people are losing the ability to govern themselves.
Our elected representatives in Washington D.C. feel it is their responsibility to take from those that produce, process it through the machine of Congress and give what is left back to those that vote them back into positions of power.
Our current Representatives are openly governing against the will of the people. They are passing legislation that consists of 2,000-plus pages that take control of 1/6th of our economy. These bills are not accessible to the public and by their own admission they have not read and they do not even understand prior to voting.
Our tax bill to the Federal Government is upwards of 40 percent of our income and wealth. As a result of our tax laws we are taxed every time we move and that money is used to benefit and support about 50 percent of the population that doesn't pay federal income taxes.
Our national security has been and continues to be weakened allowing our enemies to plot against us.
There are many other things that have gone way beyond the intent of our Constitution as you established it in 1787.
In closing, my hope and prayer is that the American People will wake up and realize that the only thing standing between our liberty and tyranny, however invasive that might be, is their responsibility to elect leaders that work for the people and govern by the consent of the governed.
There are many great quotes that were made in those early days and two by Mr. Jefferson that are just as relevant today as they were when our Republic was born. The first is "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them" and "To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
Please pray for us that we will reverse course and return to the principles that made the United States of America "A shining city on a a hill."
