Meals On Wheels

Editor, Times-Union:
I would just like to express my feelings to the public who receive Meals on Wheels from the Hospital. On December 22, I delivered at least 15 meals to the community in a very short time frame, going all the way to Etna Green and the surrounding areas. It was very slick and cold out, so I had to go slow. Regardless, the meals were on time except for one home that I thought the people were not home. I came back after my last customer of that route only to find the people to be very rude. They told me to take the meal back after two different trips to the same house. I thought the door was locked. I thought maybe they were picked up and taken to the doctor, or just not there. But I did try to get them two times.

Anyways, some people we take mobile meals to don't understand that it is strictly volunteer work. It is out of the goodness of our hearts. We don't get paid to do it, and would greatly appreciate a kind word or simply a thank you for our time to deliver you lunch when ours has not yet been eaten.

Thank You.

Impeachment OK

Editor, Times-Union:
Regardless of the results of William Jefferson Clinton's upcoming trial in the U.S. Senate, the decision to impeach him by the House of Representatives was the right thing to do for two very simple, very important reasons. It determined that 1) perjury (lying under oath) is an impeachable offense and that 2) the President of the United States is not above the laws of his own country. These fundamental determinations can only make the United States a stronger country in the future.

Anyone who disagrees with this impeachment needs to ask themselves two questions - what kind of country would this be if the President could lie about anything at any time to anybody and not have to worry about the repercussions? And what if the President didn't have to obey the laws of his own country, the laws that he was sworn to uphold? I doubt that's the kind of country in which any of us would like to live.

Dog Gone

Editor, Times-Union:
Thursday, someone took my Jack Russell dog. He was here on our farm not bothering anyone.

They took him between 12 and 3 p.m.

He's white with brown spots and weighs 20 pounds. He is also being treated for heart worms, and his medicine is due Dec. 23.

Please, whoever took him, bring him home. If not, please take good care of him.

Mrs. A. Jackson, Akron

Wonderful Town

Editor, Times-Union:
The town has so many wonderful activities and advantages that I and my family have enjoyed. I want to compliment Warsaw and thank them for the lovely and well-conditioned parks, the wonderful library, the summer concerts, the beautiful Central Park and the gorgeous Christmas decorations, and all of the opportunities the town provides.

FOP Says Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
Seasons greetings,
This year the Kosciusko County FOP, in conjunction with the Warsaw Wal-Mart, held Shop with a Cop. Officers representing state, county, city and towns were on hand to take several area children shopping for Christmas.

Children picked out clothes, shoes, books and toys that were then wrapped by Wal-Mart representatives. Those area Officers in attendance made several new friends and had pictures taken with the children they took shopping.

We hope that this will become an annual event for the FOP and grow in the years to come. Funds for this event come from the Grand Ole Opry which is sponsored by the FOP each spring and other donations that come from the local community.

Merry Christmas
Travis C. Marsh, President, FOP Lodge #149

School Policy

Editor, Times-Union:
I would like to address the Administration of Warsaw Community High School on their cruel and self-absorbed behavior towards those grieving the death of their friend and fellow classmate David Headington.

On Tuesday, December 1st, students were having a normal morning in class when suddenly an announcement rang through the halls and devastated many students. However, the administration expected those affected to stop those grieving emotions and carry on with class.

School officials told students that attending the viewing of theirfriend would result in an unexcused absence. Then some officials had the audacity to show up themselves merely for the sake of their reputation. These actions clearly show our community that students are not seen as human with human emotions, but simply as a number to be pushed through their doors.

To those officials who were guilty of the above behavior, and you know who you are, I am thankful your students have hearts and minds of their own, because being as heartless as you have demonstrated makes you, my friend, the number. I hope in the future you will be more sensitive to the emotions of your students, because, lets face it, you're their guidance, so guide not destroy!

This letter is in David's behalf, not my own.

In remembrance of David Headington.

Thank you,
Thomas Tuggle
