Judging

Editor, Times-Union:
David Slone's article in the December 15 Times-Union led me to make the following comments. In his reference to the passage in John Chapter 7, verse 1, you will find that upon reading the whole chapter it tells us to judge rightly but not to avoid judging altogether.

Then there was mention of Jesus teaching not to throw the first stone and again this was taken out of context, because the elite of his day were making a venomous attack upon him and he simply thwarted their vicious attempt to trick him.

The entire Bible is in harmony with Jesus teaching that the Mosaic Law has not been revoked, but since his death, burial and resurrection we can have salvation by grace and not by works (law). Sodomy and its bitter fruit are not endorsed by God and therefore believers feel that this lifestyle is not compatible with scripture.

I sincerely hope this has been helpful to our mutual understanding, God bless you and have a great day.

County Salaries

Editor, Times-Union:
Last week I had some out of state guests and one asked what they could take home from our county for a souvenir for their daughter. That question really stumped me.

About three weeks ago I read in the Times-Union that Human Resource Director Ron Robinson was named the new county administrator with no salary increase. Last week he got a $10,539.90 raise. Not bad for a weeks work.

Then I read that our egg-headed commissioners got a 29% raise, council members - 50%, county administrator - 26%. The rest of the working stiffs seemed to get the "Big Weeny." But, maybe I'm making things sound too simple. First, I don't think our county commissioners and council members are in it just for the money, so why such a large raise? If you would take their raises and do a little comparison, why is the Sheriff worth $20,000.00 more than the Warsaw City Police Chief?

Council increases 12,250

County commissioners 9,366

County Sheriff 20,000
Area Plan Director 4,691

The total raises of our elected county 46,307

Now if our commissioners and councilmen would do the job they were elected to do, we wouldn't need a county administrator - another $51,542 savings:

51,542
46,307
97,849
That's a whopping $97,849. I would guess, with the number of county patrolmen and highway workers, you guys could all get a $2,000 a year raise. Too good and simple to be true, obviously.

Back to the souvenir - the only thing that comes to mind now would be a rotten egg.

Social Securities

Editor, Times-Union:
To whom and all it concerns! What's up with the Social Security. I am 37. I pay into Social Security. But they say when I get old enough to retire, it won't be there. Why? So why do I have to pay in? So what is Social Security? To me, it sounds like we are just lining the governments pockets. I know people who deserve it and had to fight! for it. And there is people that get it who doesn't deserve it and had no problems getting it.

Clinton needs to do something besides having sexual affairs in the White House. As far as medical, he needs to do medical reform instead of talking about it. He needs to somehow get control on outrageous prices on medicine and hospital cost! Clinton doesn't care about medical or health reform, he gets everything free, so does Hillary.

It's no wonder a lot of people are in poverty. and the people who really need help can't get it. Some people work and try to make ends meet and can't! Try to get help and they always say you make too much money. Bull! And people who just sit around, do nothing but get drunk, smoke dope get food stamps and welfare and sit back and have everything handed to them. Something wrong somewhere. Sometimes it makes a person feel like they're working for nothing.

And as far as Clinton, he needs to be punished. He is a liar. He is suppose to be a leader Not! He should at least be tried for perjury and put in a private prison not a condo or something fancy. He is no better than anyone else. I understand that if he is put in a regular prison he wouldn't be President long. But he deserves NO LUXURY. Regular prison food and the works. Otherwise I feel anyone who is in prison for perjury should be released. Everyone needs to wake up, look what's happening around us.
