Disturbing Incident
Editor, Times-Union:A disturbing incident occurred this morning in our neighborhood. While getting ready for work, I was startled by gunshots so loud they rattled the windows on the second story of our home. When I went outside, I could not believe there were hunters in full camouflage less than 100 feet from our home! If not illegal, at the least their behavior is rude and intrusive, not to mention unsafe. There are numerous unpopulated preserves close by and we do not appreciate this intrusion. I am not an anti-hunting person by any means. I just do not want my grandchildren, pets and the rest of the family to feel threatened in our own home. My questions are: Is this illegal? Is this unethical? Whom do I report the incident to if it happens again?

Absurd Argument
Editor, Times-Union:Sarah Lowe recently asserted in this column that Dave Koontz cannot express an opinion on abortion because he has never been and never will be pregnant. This argument is totally absurd. As a member of the human race, Dave has every right to speak (and act) on behalf of the most innocent and vulnerable members of the human race: the unborn children.
Ms. Lowe laments that it is a man's world. Perhaps that would not be so if our society would stop killing baby girls. Could it be that the 21st century's Susan B. Anthony or Gloria Steinem was among the millions of girls slaughtered after 1973's Rowe v. Wade?

Purse Stolen
Editor, Times-Union:I have never written a letter to the editor but I felt I really needed to, due to an incident that happened to my mother. She accidentally left her purse in the front of her shopping cart as she left Wal-Mart parking lot on Dec. 12. When she realized she did not have her purse in her car, less than 10 minutes later, she returned to Wal-Mart parking lot and of course her purse was gone. Thinking someone may have turned it in to Wal-Mart, she went in and asked, but no one had turned it in.
I recall reading in the paper two other letters regarding a stolen purse and a stolen wallet. Whoever has taken these purses and wallets should ask themselves, "What if I lost mine?" Wouldn't you appreciate if someone returned it? I wish those people could go through the hassle of having to cancel credit cards renew driver's license, renew Social Security cards and change all of your bank accounts. You miss an entire day of pay from work to take care of these things along with the money and other belongings that you have lost.
My mom had some personal belongings in her purse that she is very upset about losing. She didn't ever care about the money she had lost or the hassle she was going through; she just was so upset about losing the personal items that she had in her purse. If by chance whoever took her purse is reading this, could you please just return her purse to the address on her driver's license or take it back to Wal-Mart, no questions asked. At least have a little bit of a heart and return what is left in her purse and remember, what goes around comes around.

Festival Of Trees
Editor, Times-Union:Another Festival of Trees is history. The magnificent trees and wreaths have been delivered, the special events are over, the glitter has been swept up and the lights and garland are safely tucked away until next year. But the work that the Festival supports is going strong: pregnant moms, children and families in our community are receiving services which help to make them healthier individuals, better parents and more productive citizens.
So thank you for being a part of the Festival of Trees - by being a part of our committee or board, being a sponsor, designing a tree or wreath, hosting a special event, volunteering or just by visiting the Festival and buying a raffle ticket. Without each of you, the work of the Health Care Foundation would not be possible.
Thank you for enjoying the beauty of the Festival of Trees and of this wonderful season, but we thank you, also, for caring deeply about the health and well-being of our community.
Wishing you a blessed holiday season!

Lost Kitten
Editor, Times-Union:Hey! I am lost and I just don't get it. I am a very loving and tame white kitten with gray tail and some gray on my head and left hip. I must have been an inside cat.
I tried to get rescued, but there are many reasons people don't have pets. Health reasons and changing lifestyles are high on the list.
If you lost me on Chapman Lake Drive, I will be at the Animal Welfare shelter. If you dumped me - shame, shame on you!

Wallet Returned
Editor, Times-Union:I would like to thank the man who found my wallet Saturday the 13th at Owens. Not only did he find it, he brought it to my house with everything still there. You don't know how much that meant to me. There wasn't much cash, but the idea of having to cancel everthing with Christmas around the corner was very upsetting to me. I wish I had been home to thank you myself.
In times we live in now, it was a rewarding feeling that someone was honest enough to not keep what was not theirs. Even take the time to personally bring it back when he could of just dropped it off at the front desk of the store.
Merry Christmas and may God bless you for your honesty and thoughtfulness.
