Homeland Security

Editor, Times-Union:
I would appreciate printing the following in your opinion column as an open letter to: President Bush, Senator Lugar, Senator Bayh, Rep. Souder.

Gentlemen: Homeland Security is: (1) A huge new costly federal bureaucracy - too large to manage and operate efficiently, as is the case with existing departments of government.

(2) Another federal power grab - further eroding and limiting individual liberty under the guise of security.

(3) The usual federal government camouflage - diverting the peoples' attention from the real cause of our troubles in the world - the government itself and its foolish interventionist foreign policy. We must stop colonializing other areas of the world through monetary manipulation, political subterfuge and military force.

Hate will ferment and retaliation will continue until you acknowledge the cause of terrorism, rather than trying to combat the effects.

Do you really think you should attempt to police the world, when performance shows you are not even capable of executing your constitutional duty to protect the borders of the United States?

Tolerance

Editor, Times-Union:
I wondered if you thought we should be tolerant of people who lie? How about people who steal, or even murder? My guess is that most people (if not all) would say that we shouldn't tolerate these kinds of people ... they are doing something wrong!

But how do you know it's wrong? By what standard, what is your proof?

It's a really big question. It's a question that requires that we have some sort of absolute, undeniable source of wisdom and truth. I know that I am not smart enough to design the standards of right and wrong. Are you?

I hope that you will come to understand that there is only one God, only one truth, only one who is the perfect standard by which mankind has its only understanding of the concept of right and wrong.

His name is Jesus Christ. He will forgive and change us when we repent, but He will not tolerate a lifestyle of sin.

Tolerance of sin is a lie.

I encourage you and the GSA youth to prove me wrong. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by digging deep. "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good." Psalm 34:8 nkj
