Editor, Times-Union:When dealing with such a large number of students that attend WCHS it is nearly impossible to know or keep track of everyone, not to mention the comings and goings of delivery persons, visitors, etc. ID tags are quite commonplace in our world today - check the employees of our local hospital and some of the stores, what are they wearing? At some of the retirement homes, not only is their name on the door, but also their photo.
From an emergency standpoint, any medical conditions, medications, allergies, NOK and permission to treat should be included on the ID badge should the wearer be rendered unconscious or a disaster (such as a tornado) with multiple critical injuries should occur. The ID badges are just one step in ensuring safety, they are not the cure.
Students, you have a lot of good ideas, let's hear some of your proposals on this safety issue ...

Politics Of Abortion
Editor, Times-Union:Mr. G.W. Bush put his political aspirations on the line in the November election by publicly stating his opposition to abortion. This presidential election was a public referendum of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision called Roe vs. Wade that began the slaughter of the innocents. America has duly elected the man who wants to save the babies alive - George W. Bush.
Mr. Gore has a counterpart in history, whose name was Haman. He was the high governmental official who devised a plan to kill all the Jews in all provinces of Persia out of pure hatred that was to be carried out by craftiness through official proclamation of the king. The Jews were innocent people, not enemies of that empire. When the plan failed, Haman also ended up being hung on the very gallows he had constructed to hang his chief adversary. This Albert Gore Jr., who would continue America's national sin of murdering millions of Americans, also cannot prosper by perpetuating legalized murder from Washington.
It was a crime to kill unborn babies during the first 197 years of our nation's history. I ponder the revival of bygone Christian virtues like morality, chastity, individual responsibility and proper personal conduct with the opposite sex in America. I think one important issue that obviously fosters these good qualities is banning abortion.
My family and many others are praying that Mr. Bush, our president-elect, would be brought into office. Unfortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court has gladly agreed to issue a decree regarding this presidential election. Our unjust Supreme Court has already granted immunity to the wholesale murders of 43 million babies in our U.S.A. Their ruling will be in essence about abortion, not election laws because Mr. Bush represents life and Mr. Gore represents death. May the Lord deliver America from the blood hands of Mr. Clinton, Mr. Gore and the U.S. Supreme (so-called) Court. We cannot prosper as a nation fighting against the lord, the giver of life and the righteous judge, by killing our own in secret just because sinful men and women desire to have it so.
Human government was intended to be run in the fear of the Lord God. Our problems stem from the fact that our national government is not run that way. The Republicans have tried on several occasions since they took majority control of Congress to stop only part of the murderous abortion gang. They passed legislation to that effect, only to have Mr. Clinton veto the bill each time. There is a difference in party ideologies that cannot be mistaken in the 2000 election.

Questions Judge
Editor, Times-Union:Once again, as I sat reading the Nov. 28 Times-Union, I was in utter disbelief at the article under Court Briefs. "Syracuse man guilty of sexual battery." Now, if I am reading this article correctly, this guy admitted to the offense as a Class D felony. What does Honorable (?) Judge (?) Huffer do? Ah, what the heck, let's give him a lesser sentencing of a Class A misdemeanor and, hey, for the record, let's give him 180 days in jail, but you don't have to serve it! What? I had to rub my eyes and re-read the article. Sure enough, it read the same. Now, I'm not one to condone violence, but a trip to the woodshed for Judge (?) Huffer is acceptable. What did he base his decision on? That the victim was 17? I want to add that she is the VICTIM, if she was not there, there would be no crime. Now the article stated that she was on medication that made her unable to stop it, she did not tell him "no" or could not put up enough of a fight. What's up with the Planned Parenthood sessions? The article below this one in Judge (?) Huffer's court was about an officer's home being broken into and guns stolen. Now, I believe these guys deserve everything they get, but yet a 17-year-old has to live with the fact that a person violated her since she was unable to stop it and yet the perpetrator gets the usual Huffer slap on the wrist. This judge needs to get with the program! Yes, once again, it's against the law and you are supposed to punish the violator. Could someone please remind him of that?

Wake Up, America
Editor, Times-Union:Our recent election measures the dumbing-down of America. Only half of America still knows the difference between right and wrong. The other half willingly follows the Pied Pipers from Hell into a "new America"--USSA. There is hope. The votes the impartial machines threw out were the chosen non-votes of Democrats who voted for their state slate but were too disgusted with eight years of sleaze, illegal backing and Chinese payback, the loss of national security via downloading, the near destruction of our military strength and morale and endless lies and cover-ups.
Now, nine respected judges are the only bulwark we have between freedom or communism. One Executive Order from an impeached president can trump it all. Wake up, America. You have excused too much.
