No Fresh Idea
Editor, Times-Union:Ref: Politics Galore.
Have you noticed how the Democrats woke up, after the election? Prior to the election, the only idea they had was, they wanted a change.
They chloroformed the Republicans. They did so, so to get them to think like them. It worked.
Prior to the election, the Republicans became disgusted, so perhaps did not even vote. That is just what the Democrats wanted.
Now the Democrats have all kinds of ideas. Politics. Politics. The Republicans fell (hook, line and sinker). They only have themselves to blame.
Election is over. I think I see one good thing. It is my opinion, the Republicans will work with the Democrats more willingly than the Democrats have or will with the Republicans.
That's my opinion. What do you think?

Reminders
Editor, Times-Union:Thanks for reminding the winners in the recent election that they should not gloat over the victory. I'm not sure, but I think I sense among the smarter ones, more fear and trembling than anything. We should fear "lest we forget" who we are and who God is.
Cal Thomas, in Tuesday's Times-Union, seems to have the whole world situation well summed up. I hope none of your readers missed it on Nov. 14. He reminded us that the real winners in the election are our enemies we call radical al-Qaeda terrorists, and he gave "chapter and verse" and "who said what" so that we in the West need have no doubt of their thoughts and intentions. They have said this is World War III, and they fully intend to destroy Israel and kill multiplied millions of Americans. What if what they have been saying is not the idle prattle of fools? What if they are serious?
Which reminds me that if we had been pulling together like we did in World War II, our al-Qaeda Islamofascists "terrorists" enemies would probably, by this time, be "on the run" rather than gloating over our stupidity and cowardice.
A few of us are still around who were teenagers in 1940. Our response to England's plea when Hitler was gobbling up Europe and preparing to take Russian (and who knows what else) was the greatest and costliest "rescue operation" of any nation in history. That response has made us proud to be called Americans. Tony Blair seems to be about the only modern leader who remembers - with gratitude, at least. The gutless, self-serving attitude of many Americans the past few years make those of us who remember the heroic 1940s feel like hanging our heads in shame.
But some of the real stories of true American heroes that filter back through all the negative press still causes us to remember our founding fathers. We remember their integrity and their love of freedom and we bow in gratitude and pledge to fight on. We find no place to give in or give up.

Nazism
Editor, Times-Union:This letter is written in response to the person or persons who paid for the pro-Nazi advertisement on page 6B of the Nov. 11 edition of the Times-Union. Your so-called "astonishing" historical novels are obviously a mix of third-rate dime novel fiction and pseudo-intellectual sewage. If readers of the Times-Union are interested in actually informing themselves with the truth about the Holocaust and World War II, they should visit the Warsaw Community Public Library and check out one of the 54 books that deal with the subject of the Holocaust.
Here is a brief list of some of those books.
1. The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich
2. Nazi Terror: The Gestapo, Jews and Ordinary Germans
3. The Third Reich: The Apparatus of Death
4. Hitler's Willing Executioners
5. Hitler's Death Camps
6. Auschwitz: A New History
7. The Holocaust in History
8. The Holocaust in Historical Perspective
9. While Six Million Died: A Chronicle of American Apathy
10. Atlas of the Holocaust
11. Never Again: The History of the Holocaust
12. The Holocaust on Trial
13. The Historical Atlas of the Holocaust
14. Reading the Holocaust
15. Denying History: Who Says the Holocaust Never Happened and Why Do They Say It
And for those who paid for Nov. 11's advertisement, you should be grateful that you live in a country that does not suppress an individual's right to speak truth or falsehood, unlike the fascist regime of your beloved Fuhrer that your kind heaps so much praise upon. And on a final note, there is no moral difference between fascists and communists. The history of the 20th century speaks volumes about the the twin evils of fascism and communism and its ultimate goal of world conquest and slavery for the whole human race.

School Policies
Editor, Times-Union:Has Warsaw School System gone nuts? Why would you expel children for the rest of the school year for going to the restroom? Why are you collecting our school tax money and not letting the children get an education? Warsaw, haven't you figured out yet that the kids that are causing trouble in your town are the ones that get thrown out of school? They can't go to school, they can't get into AIMS, so what do you think these kids do when they stay up all night and sleep all day? Give the police department headaches.
Warsaw has been doing this for several years now. Surely, Indiana State Law regarding children being in school should be abided by school officials. Warsaw has no trade schools, no alternate schools for her castaways. So how do you think you can control break-ins, holdups and your local hang outs that gather on the street corners? You can't. These kick outs are the ones that get caught up into drugs, alcohol, meth labs, stealing, holdups and on welfare. Would it not make more sense to make the children attend school, even if it is in a special room, then to turn them loose on the streets?
State law says that children after the age of 7 are to be in school. Why don't the schools have to keep them in school? Warsaw Schools can spend millions on new additions to the high school, but what is spent on keeping children under the age of 18 in school? Or a learning institution? It is more important for new gyms, arts buildings and football fields than to try to reach and teach the children that don't get to attend school anymore. What a shame. Only the chosen children are allowed to attend school.

Not Just A Holiday
Editor, Times-Union:It's getting close to the time when most retail businesses are counting on the American consumer to spend large sums of money on gifts for family and friends. Why the great expectations? It's the holiday season, of course.
However, many of those very same expectant retailers are quite reticent, even obstinate, in their refusal to acknowledge the name of that holiday celebrated by the vast majority of shoppers - Christmas. Apparently, over the last few years, the big city public relations firms have determined that in the name of tolerance, the word "Christmas" is no longer to be tolerated. It's amazing isn't it?
The occasion which is responsible for the retailers' financial well-being is determined unmentionable! Well, this year I will have to be hard-pressed to patronize a store which cannot tolerate Christmas. I intend to do my Christmas shopping at retailers that are not afraid to mention the name of the holiday we celebrate on Dec. 25. I know it's very early, but to get in the true spirit of the coming holiday, I'd like wish everybody - Merry Christmas!

Medicare Help
Editor, Times-Union:The Indiana Association of Area Agencies on Aging wants to help people with Medicare - older adults and younger persons with disabilities - find out if they are eligible for extra help.
Last year, more than 70,000 Hoosiers who are eligible for the Medicare Prescription Part D plan did not enroll. Persons who may qualify have an annual income below $14,700 for single persons and $19,800 if they are married and living with a spouse. Slightly higher income levels may apply if you, the beneficiary, provide half support to other family members living with you.
If you are single and your resources are below $11,500 (savings and stocks but not your car or home) or $23,000 for a married couple, you may qualify for extra help to pay for your Medicare prescription drug costs.
Anyone who is potentially eligible should have received an application from the Social Security Administration. You should fill out the application and return it in the envelope provided. But, if you need assistance, help is available by calling your local Area Agency on Aging at 800-986-3505.
