Population Propaganda

Editor, Times-Union:
At Manchester High School recently, a group of high school biology students were lectured by Werner Fornos, president of the Population Institute. The Population Institute is much more than a humanitarian organization concerned about social justice and the environment, as reported in the Times-Union article of Oct.13. Please don't be fooled by their rhetoric which can indeed sound very humanitarian. It is a powerful and pre-eminent lobbying group based in Washington, D.C., to promote a culture of death through worldwide population control.

Their primary means for population control are not education and equality as they would have us believe, but rather birth control, abortion and sterilization. It supports government mandated population control measures and proudly stands behind China and its one-child policy. It is well documented that China will resort to forced abortion, forced sterilization and even infanticide to enforce this policy. Also, pro-lifers who believe that life truly begins at conception must understand that many forms of birth control promoted by the Population Institute like "the pill" are in fact often abortifacients. They claim a concern for high infant mortality, yet what is the infant mortality rate for aborted babies? As for equality, this means absolutely no restrictions on abortion, including for teenagers or partial birth abortions. They proudly support Planned Parenthood, the single largest killer of the unborn.

They fully endorse the United Nations and its agenda for global population controls of genocidal proportions. Some overpopulation gurus are saying that we will destroy the planet unless we reduce the earth's population by 90 percent. Fornos stated that "it is a cruel hoax to bring a child into the world in poverty." How dare this elitist to seek to deny poor married couples their God-given right to have children. Do we really want the U.N. and groups like the Population Institute and Planned Parenthood deciding who is too stupid or too poor to have children?

And to those who disagree with Fornos' secular point of view, he refers to as ostriches with their heads buried in the sand. That must include Pope John Paul II and the millions of faithful Catholics who still embrace Church teaching that married couples must be open to life and that life is a precious gift from God which must be protected from the moment of conception. Even in Catholic countries like Mexico, where a majority reject artificial birth control and abortion, the Population Institute agenda is pushed upon the people.

Fornos is a curious choice for a speaker to address our high school students. Was he invited because the Population Institute represents the type of environmentalism being taught in our high schools? After Werner Fornos, who will be their next honored guest speaker? Perhaps it's not too late during this Halloween season to invite the grim reaper.

Spooktakular Success

Editor, Times-Union:
We would like to thank everyone who assisted with our Downtown Halloween Spooktakular on Friday night. Special thanks go to all the downtown merchants and others for opening their doors and passing out treats to almost 500 area kids.

We also want to thank all the businesses who donated prizes for the costume judging; the Parks Department for providing tables, chairs and lights; and those who volunteered their time to register the kids, help control the crowd and judge all the original, cute, ugly and funny costumes.

Most of all, thanks to the kids for providing all the fun of Halloween.
