Supports Mitch Daniels
Editor, Times-Union:This year's election for the governor's office has drawn much interest. Since the primary election, where I served as the Kosciusko County coordinator for Eric Miller, I have taken the time to review both Joe Kerman's and Mitch Daniels positions. After the primary, I made an effort to meet Mitch to make sure that he supported the conservative values I hold dear. On the Saturday of Warsaw's Sesquicentennial, I along with Senator Kent Adams and Representative Dave Wolkins met with Mitch for 30 minutes. We asked him some tough questions about the conservative moral issues that Eric raised in his bid for the governor's office. His personal answers showed his support for the sanctity of life and the traditional definition of marriage. He supports parents' right to home school their children and is a believer in improving all educational delivery systems whether they be home school, private, public or charter schools. In addition, I along with six ministers and members of faith based ministries attended a luncheon in Indianapolis where we heard Mitch address over 500 ministers. His message that afternoon regarding conservative moral issues was clear.
Doc Bowen, who served as Eric's campaign chairman, has also decided to support Mitch's candidacy. This Friday night, Oct. 22, Doc Bowen and I are holding a My Man Mitch Rally at 5 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in downtown Warsaw. Please join us to hear for yourself Mitch's message. Most importantly, make sure you exercise your right to vote on Nov. 2. Too many of our finest have given the ultimate sacrifice for you not to cast your ballot for the candidate of your choice.
For Kent, Dave, Doc Bowen and myself, it will be for My Man Mitch.

AWL Needs Help
Editor, Times-Union:Please read this and pass it around!
I was asked to repair some lights at the Animal Welfare League. I set some time on Sunday morning to see what was needed. Yes, there were some lights out and I had them repaired in no time. But that wasn't the real problem. Here is where I need your help.
Volunteers and workers were there doing their job again in a full facility. The AWL is full. Some cages with more than one animal! The dogs, cats, kittens and puppies and more, all wanting someone to say hello, pet them, walk them or take them home!
I finished the lights and stayed for a while. From cage to cage of sad eyes and some that were so excited they could jump 3 feet off the ground. Just talking to some of these dogs would cause magical swinging motions in their tails.
I stood at the cats' cages petting cat after cat and the whole time other cats were stretching their paws through bars as to say, "Don't forget me!"
Tears came to my eyes as I ca not believe these beautiful animals do not have a home and the love they need. I know there are people out here that can help in some way.
Please, stop in and take a look! I do not work for the AWL, so don't think this is why I wrote this. I have a heart and these animals need to find their way into your heart!
Help me!

All-Time Low
Editor, Times-Union:I recently discovered something that hit an all time low in "politics." Tennessee Democrats Compare Republicans To Special Olympics Children Oct. 12, 2004 - Democrats in a race for a state House seat in District 82 are circulating a flier that shows a child with disabilities with President Bush's face running in a track race. The headline says: "Voting for Bush Is Like Running In The Special Olympics: Even If You Win, You're Still Retarded."
The flier is being distributed by Democrat Craig Fitzhugh. His opponent, Dave Dahl, has issued a call to Fitzhugh to stop distributing the flier.
This is disgusting! I cannot believe anyone would have the nerve to even think of putting this flier out. As a caregiver of a special needs child, I am appalled! Please pass this message on ... Thank you!

'Back To Days' Says Thanks
Editor, Times-Union:As the weather starts to get cold, and Back to the Days of Kosciuszko has come and gone, the members of the Red Brush Forge Association wish to take time to thank everyone involved with the development and growth of the blacksmith shop.
We want to thank the 4-H Fairgrounds and thanks to all the area businesses and individuals who provided material and supported us in other ways. Without the support of so many people, businesses and groups, Red Brush Forge Association would not have been able to be there to demonstrate the art of blacksmithing to the kids.
We hope to continue to aid in the development and growth of blacksmithing, with classes and more demos hopefully starting soon.
The smithy (shop) still needs some finishing touches - any support contributions, materials and time would be appreciated. To help or if you are interested in learning blacksmithing, e-mail us at [email protected]
